1. In what areas do children and adolescents define their self-esteem? -Children and adolescents usually define their self-esteem in social, academic and physical self-esteem areas. 2. What can a parent do, in the first two years of their child’s life, to help the child develop good self-esteem? -A parent can create a strong bond between child aqnd parent to help the child develop good self-esteem. 3. What are some things that have a negative effect on a child’s self-esteem? How are children affected by these factors?

-Some negative things that have effect on childs self-esteem are disability and body image, conflict in the home, poverty and abuse. Having a disability the child may feel the parent is ashamed of them. Critical Thinking Questions

4. Why is it difficult to define self-esteem?
-Self-esteem means something different to everyone so it is hard to define it. 5. What are some ways that parents can help their children develop good social self-esteem? -A parent can help their child develop good social selfesteem by taking the child out and having play dates. 6. What are some ways that parents can help their children develop good academic self-esteem? - Parents canhelp their child develop good good academic self esteem by rewarding and telling the child "good job". 7. How does positive self-esteem affect children as they develop through their teen years? What are characteristics of people with high self-esteem? Low self-esteem?

-Positive self esteem can affect the child positively as they develop. Some characteristics of people with high self esteem are they aare happy and more succesful.
