1. What is communication? How does communicating relate to parenting? Communication is "any sharing of meaning between two or more people. Communication relates to parenting because it helps parents guide and understand their children better. 1. 2. How can financial issues affect parenting?
Financial issues can affect parenting by not having 'family time" because you are trying to get more money by working more often, the parents being stressed out and creating negative interactions with their children,and not showing enough guidance or affection. 1. 3. How does negative communication differ from positive communication? Negative communication differs from positive communication because in positive communication,both the child and parent try to understand each of their feelings and actively listen. In contrast, negative communication is discouraging the person and their feelings. People who use negative communication tend to be thinking only about themselves instead of trying to help the other person. Negative communication can lead to a low self esteem and the child won't want to communicate openly anymore. 1. 4. How can divorce affect children?
Divorce can affect children in different ways depending on their age and family. Young children under the age of five can have temper tantrums, difficulty sleeping,and separation anxiety. School aged children may feel sad,guilty,and angry. Teens may feel insecure,sad,and other emotions. They are more likely to take on risky behaviors like drug use,criminal activities, unsafe sex,skipping school, getting into fights,and develop eating disorders. 5.
