A.Statement of the problem

Technology has developed rapidly that it is almost essential to have an electronic devices particularly at home like personal computer, smart phones, laptops and tablets. Teenagers nowadays have gotten so used to have technology around them. still, while having these computer that make their work faster, comfortable, and handy, these devices could also have negative effects on their lives, particularly in their academic performances when used too much. According to Webster dictionary addiction is the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that is cessation causes severe trauma. But how does addiction works? Well material dependence is classified as an addiction if it is harmful to the person who is addicted. Whenever a person engage in activity that causes pleasure, endorphins are released, and it is this discharge of endorphins that gives pleasure that people get addicted to. Endorphins that are released cause an increase of dopamine.

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is released in the part of the brain called ventral striatum. It is also a precursors for are norephinephrine, which is used in the autonomic nervous system, and it in turn is a precursor for epinephrine which is used to journey or fight. How dopamine actually affects addiction remains to be clarified. There are reports that dopamine is also released when non-pleasurable activity takes place, but it is definitely known that large amounts of dopamine are released during pleasure state of addiction.

To make it simpler addiction is something that you do monotonously. Whenever you do it you’ll feel excitement, happiness that you want to do it over and over again making you to lose your productivity on work.
